📋 SNAP Eligibility

  • Income limits: Generally 130% of federal poverty level (~$1,580/month for individual, ~$3,250/month for family of 4)
  • Resource limits: $2,750 in countable resources ($4,250 if household includes elderly/disabled)
  • Work requirements: Able-bodied adults without dependents (18-49) must work or participate in training 80+ hrs/month
  • Citizenship: Must be U.S. citizen or qualified non-citizen (legal permanent residents eligible after 5 years)

📝 How to Apply

  1. Find your state's SNAP office: Visit fns.usda.gov/snap/state-directory
  2. Gather documents: ID, proof of address, income verification, Social Security numbers for household members
  3. Submit application: Online, by mail, fax, or in person at your local SNAP office
  4. Complete interview: Usually by phone within 30 days of application
  5. Receive EBT card: Benefits loaded monthly to Electronic Benefits Transfer card
⚡ Expedited Benefits: If you have less than $150 in monthly income and less than $100 in liquid resources, you may qualify for expedited (emergency) SNAP benefits within 7 days.
